LOGO
The W-shaped logo design is inspired by the pattern of the phoenix bird from an ancient Chinese fairytale, which represents auspiciousness, peace and harmony. It also resembles a burning fire, representing the vitality and passion of winter sports athletes.
CEREMONY CAULDRON
Painted red and silver to match the colors of the torch, the cauldron's shape is similar to a Chinese zun, an ancient bronze jar or tripod. The cloud patterns from the 2008 Summer Games cover the base before morphing into sporadic snowflakes to represent Beijing's unique status as a host for both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
MEDAL FRONT SIDE
Inspired by the exquisite multi-circle "yu bi", an ancient Chinese jade artifact dating back some 5,000 years, each medal features carvings of the Olympic rings at its heart on the front side with the words "XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022" etched around them. Engravings of cloud patterns, snowflakes and ice scratches fill the outer rings.
The reverse side bears the Beijing 2022 Paralympics emblem at the center, with the outer rings dotted with 13 stars strung together by circles to represent the 13th edition of the Winter Paralympic Games, and feature the name of the medal event.
The zun or yi, used until the Northern Song (960–1126) is a type of Chinese ritual bronze or ceramic wine vessel with a round or square vase-like form, sometimes in the shape of an animal,[1] first appearing in the Shang dynasty. Used in religious ceremonies to hold wine, the zun has a wide lip to facilitate pouring. Vessels have been found in the shape of a dragon, an ox, a goose, and more.[2] One notable zun is the He zun (Chinese: 何尊) from the Western Zhou.
The zun is a vessel used as a ritual container to hold wine in ancient Chinese. It is a tall wine cup, with no handles or legs. The mouth of the vessel is normally seen as broader than the rest of the body. As a ritual container, its function is to provide the offering of wine to the deceased through ceremonial practices. Depending on the type of zun vessel, for example the Xi zun, not only was it used to store wine but also used to keep the wine warm. This is the only bronze piece discovered known to combine the two functions.[3]

The enamel Zun also features the designs of the "Bird's Nest", which staged the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics, the Temple of Heaven and the Dajingmen in Zhangjiakou, one of the four major passes in the Great Wall.
