2020 Summer Olympics (

[b] officially the
Games of the XXXII Olympiad[c] and commonly known as
Tokyo 2020 (
Tōkyō Nisen Nijū), are an upcoming international
multi-sport event to be held in
Tokyo,
Japan. These Games were originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, but due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, the
International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Organizing Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the Games would be delayed to 2021, and held no later than
summer 2021. The Games will still be publicly branded and marketed as
Tokyo 2020, even with the change in scheduling.
